  • Fierce Leather Shorts

The colder months are perfect for leather. We adore leather pants and tons of leather accents. Due to the fact that it's the middle of February and freezing....we are desperately awaiting the warmer months ahead. Aren't you? However, we do not want to toss our love for leather aside as the days  soon warm up. Here are some tips to wearing leather shorts in the spring and summer months. <3

Leather shorts don't require quite as much commitment as a pair of leather pants. Not to mention WAY less heat!  All you need to do is pair a cool transitional knit or a great slouchy tee with light weight leather shorts. Take Miranda Kerr for instance. She looks GREAT and very comfortable in her shorts and simple white T-shirt. She's strolling at the park on a nice warm day. Totally simple and easy look to pull off and duplicate.

To snag this chic look, designers such as Givenchy and Saint Laurent have added leather shorts to their collections. Grab them for a more affordable price here at Divergence Clothing.

Thanks to designers like Oscar de la Renta, Lulu Frost and Christopher Kane- we are seeing NEON everywhere. And- we- love- it.  Neon is officially haute couture. These bright hues can be tricky and there are some rules on wearing these shades. Here's how to capture fashion's new neon phase without scary 80's dance party flashbacks.

Tooooo Much Neon: If you own a lime yellow or hot pink skirt....pair with a subdued grey or white top. Please don’t wear them with matching neon heels and lipstick. You will look like Boy George.

Neon makeup sounds crazy, but if done right can be fun! A touch of bright lipstick or eye shadow looks amazing against a simple bare face as seen on the Donna Karan Spring 2013 runway. Try a hot pink lip with a light pastel top, jacket or dress. Also, try a cool neon blue touch of eye shadow with a blazer and pencil skirt.

Neon Denim: Neon denim is incredibly hot in the fashion world with designers such as Alice + Oliva making there own versions. When wearing a bright colored denim, nothing can do a better job at toning it down than a plain white tee.  Just take a look at our lemon lime denim.

Accessorize Me: Bright colored statement jewelry and/or purse is the perfect way to amp up an otherwise boring outfit. Pair a lemon lime purse with your little black dress for an attention grabbing yet fashion forward look. Neon necklaces are also a stunning way to brighten up the face and add some edge to a plain sweater or T-shirt.

Neon Dresses: Neon or brightly hued dresses are all the rage. Once labeled as 'street clothing', this trend has slowly but steadily transformed itself into high-end fashion. Chic and energetic, neon dresses are now seen in flattering cuts and styles. • Fashionista Street Trends for 2014

As 2013 comes to a close, we look ahead to what 2014 has to offer in the fashion world. So far, 2014 is looking pretty good! Here are 5 street chic trends to look forward to this year.

    1. Playing mix & match with prints. Simply pair a neutral print with a busier one. For example, wear a stripped basic top with a muted floral skirt. This will allow one of the printed pieces to shine, while the other one supports it.  Playing mix and match is a fun way to show off your style this year. If you want to amp it up a notch and take a note from Anna Sui, mix a bold colored print with a fun cheetah print!mix and match

    2. Black and White: I never tire of the black and white combo. Its edgy, classic, chic and it packs a bold punch. We are huge Maurie and Eve fans, because they pair this combo in many of their pieces to perfection. Check out our Cruise T-shirt in white and our Hazy Shade in Coal Crest skirt. It's a beautiful yet edgy combo. In a world filled with loud colors, this pared-down palette will definitely get you noticed, in all your monochromatic splendor. Nothing is more chic then black and white.

    3. Sweaters with EVERYTHING for the Spring: Spring knits make for next season's staple separate. For a chilly spring day/evening, keep those sweaters from winter around. Whether it's boldly printed or inventively cut, the seasonal sweater is an easy-chic piece to pair with tailored pants, flirty skirts, and blousy shorts—or to just throw on over a light dress. Check out our BB Dakota Bardot gold mesh sweater. Perfect for any season. bb dakota bardot

    4. Exposed midriffs/Crop Tops: On runways everywhere we are seeing high waisted pants and pencil skirts paired with boxy top crops. Michael Kors designed a long sleeve crop top that seemed fashion-forward and sporty, exposing just a sliver of mid-section. And at the Balenciaga runway show, crop tops were created with flattering boxy cuts that did not cling to the body.

    5. Evil eye Jewelry:  Evil Eye bracelets, rings and necklaces have taken Hollywood by storm. Celebs such as Nicole Richie, Kim Kardashian, Hillary Duff and Madonna herself have been wearing this trend. In Turkish custom, the chain's talismanic eye is believed to protect its possessor against negativity. This is why we were thrilled to recieve our Sara Designs crystal Evil Eye Bracelet. Protect yourself in 2014!

  • How to spice up any outfit with a fur vest!

Avoid reaching for your winter coat. Instead...layer, layer and layer! A fur vest is the PERFECT way to spice up your outfit during these cold months. As a layering piece, its a great investment to keep you warm on those cold nights. As a statement piece, the fur vest brings the look of luxury and edge to any outfit. We have had readers/customers ask how to properly wear a fur vest since it can seem bulky with some outfits. The BEST way to wear this type of vest is to keep your silhouette "girly." Pair your fur vest with a slim under shirt (long sleeves in the cold) and skinny jeans or leggings.  This gives you a nice balance and keeps you looking chic. We would also recommend using a belt to define our waist. This is not only flattering, but belts are a hot statement piece right now.

Another fun idea to pair with the fur vest is a high-waisted skirt. (Pair with tights in the cold.)  It slims the body appearance and is very glamourous for nights out in the city! Check out our lovely fur vest below. Now available. Ta-ta for now! Love~Valerie from Divergence Clothing.BB DAKOTA FUR VEST

  • Holiday Glam 2013

    Nordic Jam Custo Dress

Looking for the perfect holiday looks for
2013? With holiday work parties, friends cocktail hours and New Years Eve quickly approaching-holiday fashion looks are in full gear. In 2013, we've spotted several HOT trends and brought them to Divergence Clothing.

    1. Sequins: If there's any time of the year you can get away with wearing sequins it's Christmas. Sequins are the perfect way to make any lady feel fab. They are the perfect statement piece to any outfit.

    2. Black and White: Black and White outfits have been a runway staple this year. The combo is chic, elegant and classic. Lately, we have been seeing many designers use this color combo in geometric patterns. The two monochromatic colors in almost everyone’s wardrobe and on every designers’ mind unite to create simplistic elegance. It flatters every body type and is wearable for almost any occasion.

    3. Metallics: Many top designers used shiny textures and iridescent fabrics for their 2013 collections, but it was Burberry Prorsum that set the metallic standard. Creative director Christopher Bailey showed dresses, capes  in metallic blues, silvers, golds and yellows that were so intense, they brought new meaning to escapism. Metallics are the perfect way to amp up your holiday look.

4.Blazers: Blazers can be dressed up or dressed down. We wanted to be daring this season and shy away from the typical black blazer.  We are loving the geometric patterned blazers and tweed blazers with studs. They are a fun twist to the classic... not to mention very fashion forward. Blazers can also be used from day to night.

    5. Little Black Dresses (of course): Everyone has the perfect "little black dress" in her closet.  At Divergence Clothing, we decided to go after the spiced up versions of the LBD.  Take our BOULEE Marilyn dress for example. The dress is playful with a boned skirt and long sleeves.  Its sexy and classy.  It channels our inner love for Ms. Coco Chanel!

    6. Wrap Jewelry (with a kick): Wrap bracelets are big on the fashion scene. We amped our style by using wrap bracelets/watches and choosing bold gold, crystals and beautiful leather.

  • The colors of CUSTO BARCELONA

In the fall of 2013, we were thrilled to add CUSTO BARCELONA as a line we carry. I have been a fan for quite some time as I LOVE fun striking patterns, bright colors and unique cuts to fashion. CUSTO is known for its loud prints and mix-and-match aesthetic pieces.  A few of the items we have in stock reflect my desire to continue to pair this brand with Divergence Clothing. Our "NORDIC JAM DRESS" includes a fun AZTEC Print, high collar, simple back and a CUSTO NORDIC JAM DRESS on miss teenHOT metallic shimmer. It is a great holiday dress and also a unique piece. SIMPLY LOVE it! My second favorite piece (we recently got in) is the STUNNING "MISSI HOT POOL DRESS." This piece is a head turner and will many receive compliments. It features colorful patterns unique to CUSTO, a sexy V-neck and is a customer favorite. (Easy to see why <3 ) These distinctive CUSTO designs are perfect for risk taking fashionistas like Rihanna and Vanessa Hudgens.  CUSTO MISSI HOT POOL MODEL

  • Flare Jean ...

We were saddened when the "flare jean" disappeared from the fashion scene for a bit. Much to our relief, the flare is BACK and better then ever! We are loving the high waisted flare jean especially! Fashion experts are praising the style and saying '70s style denim is an inevitable trend we should embrace this year. This style of jean is wonderful because they make a woman look taller and thinner. Designers like Marc Jacobs, Rebecca Taylor, Tracy Reese, and Chris Benz all sent '70s-inspired silhouettes down their runways!

  • New, upcoming and of course talented designers

We at Divergence Clothing LOVE talking about new, upcoming and of course talented designers. For example, most of us have heard of Calvin Klein...however not everyone has heard of the fabulous Dion Lee. We are very impressed with this ascending Australian star Dion Lee. Lee uses an impressive combination of modern attire verses classic, structured lines verses fluid, understated verses WOW! Vogue Australia first gave Dion Lee attention back in March 2009. Since his work is simply amazing, just 12 months later one of his creations was gracing the magazine’s March 2010 cover, worn by model Abbey Lee. Check Dion out!
